Wagner expands Masella?s role

Wagner College assistant head coach and quarterbacks coach Tom Masella will take on additional duties as offensive coordinator, the school announced Thursday.

Masella, a former head coach at Fairfield, Boston University, Central Connecticut State and Fordham, fills the position vacated by Jason Houghtaling, who took the offensive coordinator job at Cornell.

Wagner also hired Princeton running backs coach Ben Martin as its new offensive line coach. Martin also has previous experience as an offensive line assistant at Texas A&M.

Masella is a former Wagner defensive back who began his coaching career at Grymes Hill. His return to the Seahawk staff corresponded with the team?s 9-4 season that included the school?s first Northeast Conference championship and a 31-20 Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) playoff victory over Patriot League champion Colgate.
