Young rapper tells world to 'Pull Ya Pants Up'

Nine-year-old Brooklyn rapper Amor ?Lilman? Arteaga has a message for the saggy-drawered Americans out there: "Pull Ya Pants Up!"

In a music video posted to YouTube, the young artist has taken to his microphone to voice a vehement disapproval of all those who can?t seem keep their trousers in check on the street.

?This for all the people that think saggin? is cool, just pull ?em up,? Arteaga raps in the song. ?I?m getting tired of seeing all these dirty underwear when I?m walkin? down the street. Pull them up!?

The video includes brief introductions by Bill McCreary, a former New York anchorman, and Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, who suggests that every day should be dedicated to pulling up your pants.

?Oh, you?re Mr. Cool; Yeah, you?re Mr. Fly. You rock your fly jeans, you rock your fly shirt, showing off your drawers like you?re wearing a mini-skirt,? the fourth-grader raps. ?The London Bridge is fallin? but not before your pants?You just draggin? us all down.?

Arteaga tells NBCNews.com he has been rapping for four years, and wrote the song over the summer with his father, Juan. He hopes to show that hip-hop and rap can have a positive side and focus his music on good messages.

?I first started rapping when I was 5 1/2,? Arteaga said. ?I always wanted to be a star, and through rapping, I was able to perform for people and give a positive image.?

The young musician likes the appeal of artists such as Drake and Chris Brown, and caught the Hollywood bug from watching television programs on Nickelodeon. He?s now practicing his music skills and working hard in school so that he can one day match the success of his idols.

And he wants to make a difference. His music speaks to the issues he feels needs to be addressed, including saggy pants.
?It?s not just [people] disrespecting themselves, it?s disrespecting others around them,? Arteaga says. ?Who wants to see you with your drawers hung low, and your boxers showing??

Though he doesn?t have a record deal yet, according to his father, he?s already well-known in the New York DJ community, and has caught the attention of some music labels. The young rapper will release a new song, "Stop the Violence," within the month, and has over a dozen more on the way.
